Ludoteca Tascabaña: A Celebration of Play, Learning, and Community

Something very special happened last autumn — and while we shared the story joyfully on Instagram (@ludoteca_tepui), for some reason it never made its way here to our website. Let’s fix that right away, because what unfolded at Complejo Educativo Tascabaña deserves to be remembered and celebrated.

We are still wrapped in the joy we shared on October 23 during the opening of the new school toy library at the Complejo Educativo Tascabaña in the Freites municipality of Anzoátegui State. It feels as if the echoes of that day are still dancing among laughter, colors, and embraces. The arrival of games, books, and toys sparked a contagious excitement among children, teachers, parents, and school leaders—everyone had been eagerly waiting for this special space created for connection, learning, and imagination.

After months of preparation, method-sharing, and teamwork between the school and TEPUI, a joint agreement finally brought this shared dream to life. The toy library will serve 160 children between the ages of 2 and 13. To celebrate the opening, the school organized a heartfelt event honoring its local roots—filled with music, traditional dance, and decorations that spoke of identity and community.

The first activity in the new toy library was a group reading session, where voices came together to explore stories in a new and engaging way. Soon after, free and respectful play took center stage, with adults joining in harmony with the children, rediscovering the wonder and joy of playing together.

Teachers and the librarian, as facilitators and caring guardians of this new space, embraced their roles with commitment and warmth, creating a safe and inspiring atmosphere. We fully trust in the success of this wonderful initiative, supported by the dedication, involvement, and enthusiasm shown by the school community. Their energy is the best driving force for this toy library to flourish and become a truly transformative space.

With deep gratitude for this experience, we continue to dream that more schools will join our Network of Toy Libraries, so that play, reading, and shared discovery continue to sow connections, learning, and smiles.
